I ended up running the marathon alone (although there were thousands of people there) on one of the coldest, rainy days and windy days in Vancouver's history. In addition, I trained on flat ground and the Vancouver trail was unexpectedly hilly.
It was my confirmation: "I'll finish this race" that kept me going. I wanted to quit my 13 but I could not stop though I was tired, hungry and bleeding from constant friction from my part of my clothes. Seven months to repeat that confirmation provoke me peace of mind that I did not even know I had. I finished the race and I have the medal and the t-shirt to prove it!
Confirmations are very reasonable thoughts. You have confirmed your entire life. Everything you think or say to yourself is a confirmation. Anyone else says to you is confirmation if you agree. Your subconscious mind will accept everything, whether it's good or bad for you. You want to be more elaborate and strategic with your confirmation.
People usually do not make a conscious decision to program negative thoughts in the subconscious mind. It is usually done unconsciously. And sometimes when they become aware, they optimize it. For example, if you find yourself saying "I'm broken" it's confirmation. Yes, you can rationalize it by saying "I have to be realistic, I'm very broken." If you want a reality, keep on saying it. If you want to change it, you must change your confirmation and inevitably the faith.
Thus, you generate negative opinions about yourself. You say things to yourself again and again (usually unconsciously). When you repeat these thoughts enough, they become an attitude that you only accept as your reality.
