At the beginning of the year, people usually set goals as a new yearly solution (ie lose weight, spend more time with friends, marathon runners, etc.). By the end of the year, people find that they achieve only some or no of their goals. Anatole France said: "To get great things, we must not only work, but also dream, not only plan but also believe." You must dream and believe to achieve your goals. Focus on an action plan to help you set goals. For example, if you want to run a full marathon (26.2 miles) then this is what you want to consider:
Create an action plan. In order to reach your goal, you have to start with what, when and who asked. Identifying these questions in advance rather than later will help the journey less painful. Do not create the plan and then put it away. Keep it in a place where you can view it for as many days to see where you are and where you are going.
What is the goal I want to achieve. What's your dream, what do you want to achieve. For example, you want to run a complete 26.2 miles marathon. You should do this goal and not someone else. This is a common feature when setting goals. I want to do this because my spouse or friends believe it would be great for me. Well, if you do not set the goal for you, you'll find it hard to achieve that goal.
When do I want to achieve this goal by Put realistic time around your goal. I want to finish this marathon in Philadelphia, PA in July 2008. If you can probably try to break the goal into affordable things (ie 90-day level). Creating millions within the goal also makes you feel unlucky. Be sure to have fun when you work to achieve your goal. Let me say that again, have fun when you work to your goal. When you start to take it too seriously, you start losing focus and it causes you to focus elsewhere.
Do not forget to celebrate when you reach the stage. This is a great motivation to help you reach the next level of the program.
Anyone who needs me needs to help me achieve this goal. Sometimes you need other help to help you overcome the challenges and obstacles to reach your goals. If you have not run for some time, you may need to join some friends or a running coach for training and motivation. This is by no means bad. Having people who are positive in nature and supporting you with your goals will help you to focus on and worry about your vision.
